Mrs. Beverly Louise Strong, 90, of Thorntown, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born in Bluffton on Nov. 8, 1925, a daughter of the now late Herman W. and Pauline E. (Unger) Souder.
On March 13, 1943, she was married to Donald R. Strong in Bluffton. Mr. Strong passed away on Dec. 30, 1973.
Beverly was raised in Bluffton, and moved to Thorntown in 1942. She took care of the books, working alongside her husband at Strong's Salvage Yard.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker; she loved her family dearly. Beverly enjoyed crafts and crocheting.
Survivors include three children, Yvonne McCall and husband, Thomas, of Thorntown, Rebecca Harder of Thorntown and Donald R. Strong II and wife, Karen, of Thorntown; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Beverly was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Souder and Ronald Souder; a sister, Carolyn Kohl; a daughter, Karen Feldhaus; two granddaughters, Cynthia Arterburn and Janice Johnson; a grandson, Nick Pugh; and a longtime companion, Curly Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Myers & Hunt Mortuary, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary in Thorntown. Interment will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
