Bonitta Jean Copeland, 89, of Lebanon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. She was born on Feb. 10, 1928, in Lebanon, a daughter of the now late Lori Linton and Edna (Egbert) Linton.
Bonitta was a lifelong resident of Boone County, and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1946. She was married to Charles Marion Copeland, the love of her life, on July 6, 1946, in Indianapolis; he survives.
Bonitta had worked for Indiana Bell, which later became AT&T, for 28 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a faithful member of the Lebanon Christian Church.
Bonitta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and reading.
Survivors include, husband, Charles Marion Copeland of Lebanon; children, Karen L. Cline of Lebanon, Marcia D. McCain of Frankfort and Susie J. Rutherford and husband, Brian, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Andrea Kinsler, Dennis Campbell and wife, Kathy, Chad Peterman and wife, Amy, Michelle Morrow and husband, Brandon, Christy Labrie and husband, Jason, Casey Spencer and husband, Bryan, Courtney Spidel and husband, Jeff, and Lisa Lawler; and 34 great- and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Bonitta was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ralph Steelsmith; a brother, Richard Linton; a grandson, Steve Kinsler; and a son-in-law, Terry Cline.
Visitation is to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Lebanon Christian Church, 610 W. 250 N, Lebanon, IN 46052.
