Mr. Charles "Charlie" Bradley, 89, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully Aug. 2, 2016.
Charlie was born Dec. 20, 1926, the son of the now late Henry and Minnie (Linton) Bradley. He married Betty Watkins on July 13, 1946. They celebrated 70 years of marriage last month.
Charlie attended Lebanon High School. He worked at the Guernsey Dairy, delivering milk and making ice cream. In the early 1960s he owned Weather Products in Indianapolis. In 1976 he founded, owned and operated Bradley's Home Improvements, and has worked side by side with his family for over 40 years.
Charlie was a proud, lifelong member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge. He served as trustee for several terms and was very supportive of the events held at the Elks, especially Dane and Judy Walker's Cancer Benefit. You could always find him there cleaning and fixing things or selling a 50/50 chance. Through the years, Charlie received many awards from the Elks including Officer of the Year, two times Elk of the Year, and the Jesse James Award.
Charlie was also a member of the Happy Hoppers Square Dance Club, where he held the presidency for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Rita Bradley, David (Debbie) Bradley and John (Lynda Lambert) Bradley, all of Lebanon; grandchildren, Staci (Todd) Sorgatz of Madison Heights, Mich., Riley (Chelsea Young) Bennett, Drew (Alexis Alfonsi) Bradley, Zac Bradley and Nic Bradley, all of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Taylor Sorgatz, Morgan Sorgatz and Raylan Bennett; and several nieces and one nephew, all living in Crossville, Tenn., Frankfort, Ind., and Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Martha Bradley; and grandson, Daniel Kincaid.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, Aug. 4, for visitation from 4 until 8 p.m., with Elks rites at 7 p.m., and services will be held Friday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Patty Jones officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Charlie will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
