Derek Eugene McIntyre, 52, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Lebanon on Oct. 24, 1963, the son of the now late Walter O. and Beverly A. (Rose) McIntyre.
A lifelong resident of Boone County, Derek graduated from Western Boone High School in 1982.
On Oct. 30, 1982, he was married to Deborah K. Smith in Lebanon; she survives.
Derek worked in several different capacities throughout his life. He began as a tool and die machinist and then went to work for the Lebanon School Corporation, where he helped out in the maintenance department for over 15 years. He was a member of Senior Services of Lebanon.
He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Derek enjoyed watching the Food Network, races and camping.
Survivors include wife, Deborah K. McIntyre of Lebanon; two children, Jennifer Kincade of Lebanon and Matthew S. McIntyre and wife, Stacy, of Kirklin; five grandchildren, Brooklynn Kincade, Ryleigh Kincade, Makaya McIntyre, Ryan McIntyre and Cloey McIntyre; sister, Vikki S. Hurst and husband, Randy, of Carmel; several nieces and nephews; and father- and mother-in-law, Don and Sharon Smith of Yuma, Ariz.
In addition to his parents, Derek was preceded in death by a niece, Amber Spencer.
Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary, with Pastor Brad Coleman officiating.
