Mr. Feign Eugene "Gene" Moore, 89, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017. He was born April 5, 1928, in Darlington, a son of the now late Clyde O. and Pearl E. (Hornbeck) Moore.
On June 7, 1952, he was married to Ruth Ann Martin in Darlington. Mrs. Moore passed away on July 5, 1989.
Gene attended Thorntown High School and joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 16. He then served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Gene worked for Norfolk and Western Railroad for more than 30 years as a car man, in the Frankfort and Indianapolis yards.
He was a proud member of the VFW, American Legion and Elks Club, all of Lebanon.
Gene was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include five sons, Phillip (Kim) Moore of Avon, Rick (Debbie) Moore, Gordon Moore, Jeff (Kim) Moore and Randy (Melissa) Moore, all of Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Nadine L. Moore of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Painter of Crawfordsville and Norma Churchman of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Gene was preceded in death by a son, Larry Moore; a brother, Bob Moore; grandson, Jeremy Moore; and a sister, Marjorie Moore.
Visitation is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Interment with military rites will follow at the Pisgah Cemetery in Montgomery County, south of Shannondale.
