Floyd's Story

Mr. Floyd Raymond Lister, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 1, 2017, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood. He was born in Lebanon on Dec. 2, 1924, a son of the now late Raymond William and Garnett L. (Ford) Lister.
Floyd was first married to Patty Owens in Lebanon in October 1947; they divorced. He then was married to Juanita Belle Medsker on April 8, 1988, in Lebanon. Juanita preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2003.
Mr. Lister was a lifelong resident of Boone County.
He entered the United States Marine Corps in December 1943. He served his country in the Asiatic Pacific Theater until March 20, 1946.
Upon his return from the service, he spent two years working in Frankfort at U.S. Hames Company. He left there when they closed shop in 1950. He then worked for Commercial Filters Corporation for 36 years, retiring in December 1986.
Floyd had resided in rural Thorntown for 28 years, and moved to Lebanon in December 1997.
He enjoyed his family and friends. He was active in church in various capacities, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and yardwork.
Floyd was a member of Lebanon Wesleyan Church, Senior Citizens of Lebanon, Top of the Hill Band, the Lebanon American Legion and the Lebanon VFW.
Survivors include children, Stephanie Jane Hysong and husband, Eric, of Lebanon, Mark David Lister and wife, Deborah, of Lebanon and Suzy Large of Lebanon; stepchildren, Tammy Storm and husband, Charles, of Lebanon, Doug Baker and wife, Ruth, of Lebanon and Debbie Culley and husband, Ed, of Lebanon; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and sisters, Norma Watts and husband, Gene, of Advance, Thelma Lusk of Dunedin, Fla., Rose Ann Kincaid of Lebanon and Marilyn Chamberlain and husband, Frank, of Georgia.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Juanita, Floyd was preceded in death by four sisters, Maxine Walton, Ruth E. Lister, Barbara Harris and Ruby Birge; brother, O. Eugene Lister; and a brother-in-law, Warren Lusk.
Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Interment with military rites will follow at Browns Wonder Cemetery in Lebanon.
