Frances Carol Dunbar, 83, formerly of Frankfort and Thorntown, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born in Boone County on Dec. 28, 1933, a daughter of the late Claude Elsey and Eva Mae (Fisher) Allen.
On April 25, 1952, she was married to Jack M. Dunbar. Mr. Dunbar passed away Dec. 10, 2016.
Frances was a longtime resident of Thorntown and a 1952 graduate of Thorntown High School. She had worked for a number of years at the Garment Factory and also for Mallory's.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she loved her family dearly. Frances enjoyed reading, needlework, and bowling. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth.
Survivors include seven children, Jackie (Eugene) Young of Burlington, Diane (Mark) Horlacher of Thorntown, Lynn (Duane) Crabtree of Frankfort, Brenda (Jim) Belcher of Lebanon, Sandy (Ron) Noland of Frankfort, Scott (Penny) Dunbar of Frankfort and Robin (Dave) Glass of Lebanon; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, John (Janet) Allen of Bunker Hill, Donald (LaDonna) Allen of Whitestown, Doyle (Eileen) Allen of Thorntown and Ronald (Carol) Allen of Kokomo; four sisters, Maxine Waltenburg of Denver, Colorado, Judy (Bob) Skow of Thorntown, Janet (Stephen) Gregg of Thorntown and Anna (companion, George) Batts of Thorntown.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was preceded in death by one grandchild; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Carter Allen and Bob Allen; and a sister, Mary Higer.
Funeral Services are to be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon. Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
