Gary Allen Davis, 66, of Thorntown, passed away Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, at his home, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boone County on April 28, 1950, the son of the now late Richard A. and Velma Pauline (Carter) Davis.
A lifelong resident of Thorntown, Gary attended Thorntown High School.
On July 28, 1973, he was married to Holly D. Buckingham at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Lebanon; she survives.
Gary began his working career at Alton Box Company in Lebanon. He later went to work for Green Tree Elevator in Thorntown, where he spent 15 years. For the past 17 years, Gary worked for the maintenance departments at the Boone County Courthouse and the Boone County Health Department.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Gary loved his family. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, woodworking, remote control airplanes, model cars, and most of all, his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Survivors include wife, Holly D. Davis of Thorntown; two daughters, Dusty D. Girdley and husband, Robert, of Lebanon, and Misty J. Breidenbach and husband, Jeff, of Rossville; three grandchildren, Paxton Girdley, Hunter Girdley and Caleb Girdley; one sister, Vickie Shepherd and husband, Tilford, of Thorntown; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, at the mortuary, with the Rev. Glen Jewell officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
