Mr. Hal E. "H E" Smith, 74, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at his home in Homosassa, Florida.
He was born in Lebanon, on May 7, 1942, a son of the now late Herbert Eugene and Marjorie Ann (Thatcher) Smith.
In 1966, he was married to Barbara Lynn (Williams) Smith, in Las Vegas; they later divorced.
Having spent most of his life in Lebanon, H E also resided in Tucson, Arizona; Riverside, California; and most recently, Kissimmee, Florida. He was an entrepreneur and owned his own company, H E's Merchant Services where he processed credit cards for 18 years. He was also involved with importing LED lights from China.
H E was a faithful member of Lebanon Rock Church. He belonged to the Elks Club in Lebanon and the Eagles Club in Florida. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed motorcycling.
Survivors include three children, H E Smith, II of Kissimmee, Florida, Paul Jason Smith of Orlando, and Michelle Lynn (Ronald) Thieme of Melbourne, Florida; three grandchildren, Katherine Marie Lenz of Valdosta, Georgia, Breena Lynn Thieme and Ronnie Marie Thieme, both of Melbourne; one great-grandchild, Karson Tiberius Lenz of Valdosta; three brothers, Herbert C. (Marilyn) Smith and Samuel T. Smith, both of Lebanon, and William N. (Ann) Smith of Berea, Kentucky; sister Pamela J. Smith of Lebanon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, H E was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Ann Smith.
Visitation is planned from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services will immediately follow at the funeral home in Lebanon, Pastor Matt Skiles, officiating. Cremation will follow services at Boone County Crematory in Lebanon.
