Harold L. Cain, 83, of Thorntown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon. He was born in Darlington on June 12, 1933, a son of the now late Lewis Cain and Sylvia (Holladay) Cain.
He married the love of his life, Charlotte Darwactor, on Dec. 20, 1952, in Crawfordsville. Charlotte passed away on Nov. 4, 2013.
Harold farmed for several years and then worked for Enduron. He also had worked as a truck driver for Triangle Asphalt in Lebanon, retiring in 1995.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Harold joined the Darlington ARNG in 1950, and served for six years.
Survivors include children, Darryl Cain and wife, Becky, of Elizaville, Gary Cain and wife, Teresa, of Thorntown, Mary Jane Cain of Darlington and Pamela Warmoth and Jim of Thorntown; brothers, Ronnie Cain and wife, Loraine, of Alexandria, Va., and Lewis Cain Jr. of Jamestown; sister, Patricia Porter and husband, Mike, of Alton, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Harold was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lou Bailey; a granddaughter, Kaylee Gregory; two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Myers & Hunt Mortuary, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Funeral services are to be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the mortuary in Thorntown. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
