Mr. Harold E. Drees, 68, of Thorntown, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. He was born in Peshtigo, Wis. on June 3, 1949, the son of the late Harold Eugene Drees and Ethel Katherine Drees.
He married Halina (Golebiowska) Drees, she survives.
Harold grew up on the family farm in Wisconsin, graduating from Peshtigo High School. After high school he attended some courses at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, and then worked alongside his father running the Drees Livestock Exchange in Peshtigo, Wis. until the early 1990s. He moved to Boone County his last 20 years where he first worked in the cattle business, and then owned and operated Friendly Hometown Motors in Lebanon with his son, Josh.
Harold enjoyed riding horses, horse racing, bull riding, collecting antique clocks and cars and loved a great game of soccer. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Thorntown, Indiana Independent Auto Dealers Association (Board member since 2016), American Legion and Ulen Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Halina Drees of Thorntown; sons, Harold Joshua Drees III of Lebanon, Justin Zeitler (Karin) Drees of Sweden and Nelson Andrew Drees of Wausau, Wis.; grandsons, Klas Drees and Stig Drees; sisters, Clarice (Edgar) Moore of California, Jean (Robert) Wyss of Arizona, Lois (Richard) Anderson of Wisconsin and Mary (Don) Richter of Wisconsin.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Walk.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St. Interment will be held at a later date at Peshtigo Cemetery. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his care.
