Herb A. Hankins, 69, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 20, 2017, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born in Lebanon, on July 19, 1948 a son of the late Edgar "Ed" and Edna Pearl (Dillon) Hankins.
On June 3, 1973, he was married to Marlis Lynn (Todd) Hankins in Thorntown. She survives.
Early in his life, Herb attended Lebanon High School. Herb retired in 2006 from E-Z Rake in Lebanon after 25 years of employment working as a labor supervisor, and also worked for Raybestos-Powertrain for 11 years in Crawfordsville.
He took great pride in his family. Herb enjoyed fishing, woodworking and the great outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Marlis L. Hankins of Lebanon; children Kevin (Kathy) Shockley of Jamestown, Lori (Donald) Vaughn of Jamestown and Paul (Corrie) Hankins of Ormond Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Mike L. (Brenda Cox) Hankins of Lebanon, Donald M. Hankins of Lakeland, Fla. and Larry R. Hankins of Fla.; sisters Connie K. (Robert) Luper of Lebanon and Joanna M. (Phil) Stewart of Crawfordsville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie L. Hankins and infant Bobby Hankins.
Funeral Services are planned for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St. in Lebanon. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Boone County Crematory and Myers Mortuary has been entrusted with his cremation.
