Howard's Story

Mr. Howard M. Bragg, age 91, of Vevay, entered this life on Jan. 18, 1926, in Marion County, the loving son of the now late, Russell and Elsie (Dagenhart) Bragg.
Howard was raised in New Augusta, and was a 1943 graduate of Pike High School in Marion County. He attended Hanover College, where he played basketball. He later attended the State Police Academy in Plainfield.
He was inducted into the United States Air Force, serving during World War II, and was honorably discharged.
Howard was united in marriage on Aug. 5, 1962, in Lebanon, to Reva J. Harris, and to this union arrived two sons, Russ and Randy, and two daughters, Debra and Jamie, to bless their home. Howard and Reva shared nearly 55 years of marriage together until his death.
He was a former state trooper for the Indiana State Police for 6 years. He owned and operated Bragg's Carpet Business in Zionsville from 1957 to 1960, and in Lebanon from 1960 to 1977.
Howard was a volunteer fireman for the Zionsville Fire Department from 1957 to 1960. He later moved to the Switzerland County community, where he was in business from 1977 to 1992. Howard was employed by the Switzerland County School Corporation, where he worked in maintenance and was a school bus driver from 2000 to 2011.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Vevay, Vevay American Legion Post #185, Vevay VFW Post #5396 and the Markland Baptist Church.
Howard will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. He passed away at 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at his residence in Vevay.
Howard will be dearly missed by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Reva J. (Harris) Bragg of Vevay; his sons, Russ Bragg and his wife, Jeanne, of Vevay, and Glen "Randy" Bragg and his wife, Sheila, of Lebanon; his daughters, Debra Adams and her husband, Robert, of Lebanon, and Jamie Bragg of Lebanon; his grandchildren, Chad Bragg, Amber Smith, Cassie Bragg, Kyle Biesecker, Ashley Christian, Rorie Wood, Ryan Wood, Brittany Bragg, Bethany Armstrong and Brennan Bragg; and his great-grandchildren, Kaley, Marisa, Emma, Mason, Elisabeth, Olivia, Adeline, Harper and Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Elsie (Dagenhart) Bragg; and his twin brother, Harold Bragg, and his other brothers, Robert and Roy Lee Bragg.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, by Pastor Patrick Lanman, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay.
