Jacqueline's Story

Jacqueline LaVonne "Jackie" Davis, 84, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. She was born on July 4, 1932, a daughter of the now late William "Bruce" Millikan and Eva Fern (Thompson) Millikan.
A lifelong resident of Boone County, Jackie graduated from Thorntown High School in 1950. She also attended Franklin College.
She was married on July 28, 1951, in Thorntown, to John Barton Davis. Mr. Davis passed away April 18, 2008.
Jackie had worked as a secretary at Harney Elementary School for over 30 years, retiring in 2007. She had been a member of the Thorntown Presbyterian Church and was most recently a member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She enjoyed her family, extended family, cooking, playing euchre, and Clark Gable.She was an avid Notre Dame football fan. She also enjoyed college basketball and loved the Indy 500.
Her family knew her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jackie was known for her famous cinnamon rolls, her smile, her laugh, the sparkle in her eye and her generous soul. If you were a friend, you were family.
Survivors include children, T. Brent Davis and wife, Eileen, of Zionsville, Brenda K. Davis of Lebanon and J. Brennae Dale of Lebanon; grandchildren, Brandi R. Dale, Cullen B. Davis, Kerri A. Rust and husband, Jeremiah, and Evan R. Davis and wife, Caitlin; and great-grandchildren, Karsten J.B. Rust, Madelyn D. Rust and Hadley A. Rust.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was preceded in death by a son, Bruce B. Davis; and her son by marriage, John D. Dale.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are to be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
At the request of Jackie, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Indianapolis Free to Breathe, 1 Pointe Place, Suite 200, Madison, WI 53719, in memory of her husband John Davis and son-in-law John Dale.
