James Anthony Bryan "Jimmy" Berzenye, 48, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Indianapolis on Sept. 2, 1968, a son of the now late George Terry Berzenye and Sharon Ann (Elliott) Thomas. He was raised by his mother and her husband, William Henry Thomas, whom Jim also considered to be his father.
Jimmy was a longtime resident of Boone County and a 1986 graduate of Western Boone High School. Following high school he joined the United States Air Force and served his country with honor from 1986 to 1992.
On Sept. 10, 2011, he was married to Tammy Gayzale Morgan in Lebanon; she survives.
Jim worked as an HVAC Tech Journeyman for Sears. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include wife, Tammy Berzenye of Lebanon; five children, Jacob Berzenye, Nolan Berzenye, Tasha Risco, Casey Cratty and Angela Berzenye; 12 grandchildren; seven siblings, Terry Corky Berzenye and wife, Arletta, Giselle Sturdevant and husband, Ryan, Kevin Waters and wife, Stephanie, Jim Rockwood and wife, Alice, Tim Thomas and wife, Jennifer, Tim Wethington and wife, Shereen, and Pamela Drillien; and an uncle and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, George, Sharon and William, Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Edna Elliott; and several uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Entombment with military rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
