Mrs. Janice B. Walker, 97, of Lebanon, passed away March 25, 2017, at her home in Lebanon.
Janice was born on Dec. 7, 1919, in Boone County, a daughter of the now late Noah and Dyanthe (Wynkoop) Byrkett. She married Gordon Kay Walker on May 12, 1939. He passed away on Aug. 8, 1995.
Janice graduated from Whitestown High School in 1938. She worked as a lab assistant for Pittman-Moore in Zionsville .
Survivors include her daughter, Dianna (Greg) Gaines of Brownsburg; her sons, Arnold (Susan) Walker and Robert (Paula) Walker, both of Lebanon; her grandchildren, Michael Gaines, Scott (Jeanette) Gaines, Andy (Jennifer) Gaines, Lorri (Jeremy) Hoover, Kristi (Josh) Spencer, Kelli (Greg) Trainor, Amanda (Keith) Schornhorst, Beth (Brad) Grant and Jessica Walker; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Brad, Amanda, Spencer, Ashton, Alesice, Zennon, Chloe, Zayne, Emma, Morgan, Avery, Hayden, Becca, Max, Taylor, Paul, Eli, Oscar, Arthur and Garth; two great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Vicki Walker; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Brandenburg. Janice was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Walker; her grandsons, Brian and Bryce Walker; her sister, Martha Veatch; and her brother, Noah Byrkett Jr.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, March 30, for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m., with Jim Hunter officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Janice will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
