John O. Fletcher, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at the Waters of Lebanon. He was born in Morgan County, Indiana on Sept. 24, 1937, a son of the late Henry E. Fletcher and Myrtle E. (Dorrest) Fletcher.
John was a 1957 graduate of Pittsboro High School. He was married to Joyce A. (Kingery) Fletcher on May 24, 1958 in Huntington, Indiana. She passed away on June 19, 2014.
John was faithfully employed for 35 years at Chrysler, Kokomo on the Transmission Line, retiring in 1998. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John had a fondness for nature especially watching birds and squirrels. He enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable garden, camping, bowling and spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of The American Legion, Kokomo Eagles, Lebanon Rock Church and the UAW of Kokomo, Indiana.
Survivors include four daughters, Joanna S. (Fletcher) Stiles and husband, Gene, of Thorntown, Jenifer E. Hokanson of San Antonio, Jodi A. Schneider and husband, Michael, of Westfield, Josephine R. Coombs of Avon Park, Florida; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister, Janice Edwards and husband, Alfred "Ed" of Brownsburg.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenean K. (Fletcher) Davis, and one brother, Kenneth E. Fletcher and one sister, Jean Newland.
The family will gather for visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Myers and Hunt Mortuary 116 West Plum in Thorntown. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Thorntown. Interment with military rites will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
