Born in Riverton, Wyo. to Merlin and Grace (Iturrian) Nelson, she showed at a young age her desire to care, whether that be people or the occasional stray animal. While raising three kids, she battled dyslexia to earn her RN in 1999. She was loved and respected by patients, their families, and her peers. She was nominated twice, by patient's families, for the prestigious Indy Star's "Salute to Nurses" award. She won numerous Silver Star awards while employed at Methodist Hospital. She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Ed and Grace Becker of Golden Valley, Ariz.; her brother, Nelson (Vivian) Nelson; Her loving husband, Paul, of Lebanon; her children, James (Sarah) King of Burlington, Ky., Patricia (Tim) Bennett, of Seville Grove, Australia and Jennifer (Scott) Pilloud of Deltona, Fla.; as well as two step-children, Burke Groseclose (USN) and Caitlin (Sean) Foster of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and her four loving dogs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Humane Society for Boone County.
