Karen Sue Toney, 62, of Crawfordsville, reported to her new home in heaven. Karen lost her short, ugly battle with cancer at 11 p.m., Sunday evening, Aug. 14. Karen was a Valentine present to Joan and William (Bud) Trump in the great year of 1954. Both have preceded her in death. Karen was a Crawfordsville graduate of 1972.
Karen always said. "I have the best family that anybody could have." Starting with her parents, Bud and Joan Trump, and her husband, John Toney, whom she met on a blind date in the winter of 1972, and married on July 1, 1972. They have a beautiful daughter born in September 1973, by the name of Angel Kizer. They have a brilliant granddaughter, Shilo Toney , born in 2003, and an outstanding son in-law by the name of James Kizer. She also has two great sisters: Jackie Chambers of Crawfordsville, who preceded Karen in death in 2011; and Pamala Howard of Darlington. The two sisters brought two great brothers in-taws in the family: Darrel Chambers and Wes Hard. The sisters also got Karen two nieces and two nephews.
Karen was a Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a member of The River of Life Church here ·in Crawfordsville. She stood on God's promises and had a big heart and a loving spirit. Karen had many friends that she loved, too. Karen always said, "I have the best friends anybody could have." She would want to thank everybody, for all their prayers and their support these past three months.
Karen retired from Pace Dairy in 2010, after 20 years of dedicated service. She was a stay at home mom for the first 20 years of marriage. She spent the last years of her life doing all kinds of craft work out of her craft room, that everybody called Hobby Lobby Jr. She said she had so many great friends that she needed a craft room to make something for everybody.
Friends could call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Pastor Wes Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Thorntown.
