Leo E. Essex Leo Edward Essex, 80, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 3, 1938, in Hendricks County, Indiana, a son of the late George P. and Elsie (Hendrickson) Essex Tucek.
Leo graduated from Perry Central High School in 1958. He moved to Advance where he lived for 47 years before moving to Lebanon in 2014.
On December 3, 1960, he was married to Kathaleen (Wood) Essex in Whitestown, Indiana. She passed away April 17, 2013.
Leo was a truck driver and farm hand for few years. He also worked as a custodian at Wells and Thorntown High School; he later worked at Perdue Turkey Farm for eighteen years.
A dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Leo enjoyed his kids and grandkids. His hobbies centered around family, woodworking, fishing and camping. Leo was a member of Advance Christian Church and former volunteer fireman at Advance Fire Department.
Survivors include his five sons: Lee E. Essex and companion, Wendy Jones of Lebanon, Bruce W. Essex Lebanon, Danny E. Essex and wife, Rhonda of Lebanon, Jeff Essex and wife, Doris of Indianapolis, Darrin Essex and wife, Misty of Advance; fifteen grandchildren; twenty- two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Leo was preceded in death by a
step-brother, Harry Kimble; step-sister, Barbara Cline, and a grandson, Jordan Essex.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation is planned for Monday, December 3 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home, in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Union Lutheran Cemetery in Boone County, Indiana.
