Lois Imogene "Jean" (Gipson) Richeson-Wilfong, age 88, passed away on Feb. 8, 2017, at McCrite at Briarcliff Assisted Living Facility in Kansas City, Mo. Prior to relocating to Missouri in 2015, she was a resident of Nashville, Ind.
Jean was born in Lebanon on April 7, 1928, to her parents, the now late Harold and Lillie (Litton) Gipson. She was a 1946 graduate of Lebanon High School, and was a loving wife, mother, homemaker and friend.
Jean was preceded in death on Nov. 12, 1989, by her first husband, Logan Richeson, whom she married on Nov. 25, 1948, in Lebanon. On March 26, 2002, she married Dr. Merideth E. Wilfong in Nashville, Ind. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 2016.
She is survived by her children, Pastor Ronald (Jill) Richeson of Louisville, Ky., Debra (Michael) Wey of Kansas City, Mo., and Sherrill (David) Heidenreich of Fishers; grandchildren, Kelly (Dave) Peterson, Jeff (Mary) Richeson, Bethany (Stewart) Regan, Christopher (Mandy) Wey, Kevin (Bobbi) Wey, Jan (Jason) Wallace and Jamie (Sausha) Toghranegar; great-grandchildren, David, Jill and Jay Peterson, Katherine, Laura and Andrew Richeson, William Regan, Ethan and Charleston (Charli) Wey, and Jaelyn, Jordyn and Audrey Wallace. In 2002, Gwen Brinkman, Katie Wilfong, Annette Wilfong and Mary Porter were added to the family, resulting in grandchildren, Deanette Morecraft, Amanda Norris, Lori Cooley, LeAnne (Rick) Kilman and Jason Porter; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Jean was a member of the New Life Community Church in Nashville. She was a former member of Arlington Heights Baptist Church in Indianapolis, and Country Gospel Church in Gnaw Bone, Ind.
For several years Jean operated a candle-making business out of her home, and was known throughout Brown County as the "Candle Lady." She attended various craft and art shows with her candles. But her favorite activity was teaching Bible studies in the various churches.
A private family service will be conducted by her son, and she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
