Mrs. Lorraine (Brinegar) Bennett, 93, of Brownsburg, passed away Oct. 30, 2016, at Homewood Health Campus.
Lorraine was born Nov 19, 1922, in Princewick, W.Va., a daughter of the now late Grace (Lilly) Brinegar and Fitzhu and Ruth Brinegar.
Lorraine graduated from Bel Aire Maryland High School. She loved the outdoors and it carried over into the kitchen with her cooking and canning of the vegetables she grew in the garden. Lorraine was also a nanny to many families in Indianapolis and the surrounding area.
Survivors include her four children, Lola Darlene Taylor (Jack) Hawk of Arlington, Neb., Janet Taylor (Jerry) Fisher of Holt, Mo., Deborah Taylor (Jack) Anderson of Troutdale, Va., and Howard (Patsy) Bennett of Lebanon; siblings, Gertrude (Ted) Hill, Rose Mary (Don) Lewis, Ruth (Terry) Snyder, Suzanne Demme, Roy (Ruth) Brinegar, Gloria (Phil) Adams and Margaret (Glenn) Sjoblom; grandchildren, Debra (Gary) Carlson, Dean (Shelley) Wherley, Dawn (Billy) Dworzan, Bill (Sandy) Henry, Jon (April) Henry, Kim Bultemeier, Brad (Tina) Fisher, Travis (Amanda) Anderson, Jackson and Victoria Bennett; 15 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Garfield Taylor and Raymond Bennett; and brother Junior Brinegar.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 4 until 7 p.m., and services will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, at 10:30 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Lorraine will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
