Lowell's Story

The Rev. Lowell Edward Spaulding, 82, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017. He was born on April 7, 1934, in Hendricks County, a son of Floyd Merle and Bessie Vera (Fredrich) Spaulding.

Lowell was raised in a home between Lizton and Jamestown, graduating from Jackson Township High School in 1952. He then attended Indiana Baptist College and finished with an associate degree.
On July 3, 1954, he was married to Phyllis Mae Martin at the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Lebanon. After 62 loving years together, Mrs. Spaulding survives.
Lowell had resided in the Jamestown-Lebanon-Frankfort area for 15 years, and had moved to Pittsboro in 1980. He began his ministerial career at a church in Frankfort, and then pastored at the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Lebanon from 1999 to the end of 2013.
Prior to becoming a minister, he had worked for various companies including Allison Division of General Motors, Royal Cleaners, Dolly Madison, National Seal, MicroPoise and Kamplain Machine.
Lowell was a loving and devoted, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a friendly and outgoing personality, and was well-known in the community and loved by his church family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include wife, Phyllis M. Spaulding of Lebanon; three children, Connie K. Barker and husband, Kirt, of Loveland, Colo., Randle E. Spaulding of Silverdale, Wash., and Theresa L. Isenhower and husband, Del Ray, of Elizaville; eight grandchildren, Jason Spaulding and wife, Tracy, Melissa Spaulding, Simon Spaulding, Tucker Miller, Johnathan Isenhower and wife, Alyssa, Nathan Isenhower, Kylie Barker and Kassidy Hickert and husband, Dan; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Buren Spaulding and wife, Imogene of Lebanon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles Merle Spaulding, Everett Clayton Spaulding, Vernon Leroy Spaulding, Virgil Dean Spaulding, Delbert Leon Spaulding and Buel Spaulding; and a daughter-in-law, Dyanne Spaulding.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 225 E. Walnut St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the church. Interment will follow services at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
