Marjorie's Story

Marjorie M. (Harding) Turley, 93, passed away July 12, 2016. She was a resident of Zionsville. She was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Zionsville, to the now late George and Hazel (Gardner) Harding.
She married Max E. Turley on May 18, 1945; he preceded her in death in 2013.
Marjorie's memory and legacy carry on through her son, Michael E. Turley of Zionsville; her siblings, Germaine Chapman of Lebanon, Joyce (Dale) Meyer of Zionsville and Joseph G. Harding of Zionsville; nieces and nephews, Nancy Chapman, Stephen Dunwoody, Rick Turley, Rod Turley, Tamala Turley, Kim Minnich, Mary Webber, Barbara Harding, George Harding, Jon E. Meyer and David H. Meyer; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Mary Dunwoody.
Marjorie was a 1940 graduate of Zionsville High School and a 1942 graduate of Lains Business College.
She worked for the Indiana War Finance Committee, which later became the Savings Bonds Division of the U.S. Treasury Department. She retired from the government in 1958. In 1963 she started working for Zionsville Savings and Loan, and retired in 1989 as a manager.
Marjorie was a member of the Zionsville United Methodist Church, Psi Iota Xi Philanthropic Sorority, the Zionsville Women's Club, and she was also secretary/treasurer for many years for the Zionsville Cemetery.
Marjorie was avid sports fan. She had season tickets and loved going to IU Football games. She also enjoyed watching IU Basketball.
Friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Zionsville United Methodist Church, 9644 Whitestown Road, Zionsville. A service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Marjorie will be laid to rest in the Zionsville Cemetery.
