Marvin's Story

Marvin Wayne Solomon, 80, a lifelong resident of Boone County, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was born on Jan. 25, 1937, a son of the now late Rayburn and Inez (Smith) Solomon.
He married Patty Heffner on March 3, 1957; she survives. They were happily married for 60 years and were completely devoted to one another.
Marvin attended Pinnell High School.
Early in his working career, he was in the fertilizer business with his dad. Later on, he began farming full time. He had been retired for some time, but couldn't resist helping his son, Rusty, farm as needed.
As a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he enjoyed his family. His first priority was to be a good husband, father and grandfather. He made sure that he was active in the lives of all of his family.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Solomon; children, Candy Gruber, Russell Ray Solomon and wife, Jody, and Angela Kay Seymour; grandchildren, Jamie Key, Casey Harvey and wife, Demian, Michelle Barany, Patty Redmond and husband, Eric, Sara Ann Solomon and fiancé, Stephen Gentry, Russell Ray Solomon Jr., Ryan Wayne Solomon, Justin James Seymour and Katie Jolee Seymour; great-grandchildren, Taylor Key, Kylia Key, William Key, Lukas Key, Cierra Redmond, Terrell Redmond and Alec Garrison; and sister, Diana K. Smith and husband, Gene.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Solomon.
Visitation is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery near Jamestown.
