Mary Lou's Story
Mrs. Mary Lou Snider, 85, passed away on Monday morning, May 22, 2017, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood, in Lebanon. She was born in Lebanon on March 13, 1932, a daughter of the now late John Benjamin and Gertrude (West) Shirley.
In 1955, she was married to Ronald Lee Peabody in Lebanon; they later divorced. She then married James A. Snider in Lebanon. He preceded her in death in July 1997.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Lebanon High School. She worked in the insurance field for 15 years. She had lived in Oregon for 20 years, returning to Lebanon in 1998.
Mary Lou was a devoted homemaker, raising her four children, and loved her family dearly. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, crafting and playing bingo. Survivors include three children, Kathy (Kevin) Van Horn of Lebanon, and Kenny Wayne Peabody and Kevin Peabody, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jason Peabody, Eric (Leigh) Van Horn, Kevin (Wendy) Van Horn II, Amber Van Horn and Cortney (Michael) Hofer; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Everett E. Peanut Shirley of Lebanon; a sister, Florence Belle Minor of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by a son, Keith Allen Peabody; a brother, Albert Lee Shirley; two sisters, Marjorie Ann Shirley and Wilma Jane Benton; and a grandson, Zach Peabody.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
