Mike Donley, 64, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born in Lebanon, on Aug. 8, 1952, the son of the late James Earl Donley and Anna Marie (Crews) Hootman.
A life-resident of Lebanon, Mike attended Lebanon High School and served for six years in the Indiana National Guard in the 39th Field Artillery in Lebanon.
On Sept. 29, 1972, he was married to Barb (Walters) Donley in Lebanon; she survives.
Mike began his working career at Lau Blower now known as ASC/Johnson Controls in Lebanon. He worked there for 44 years as a material handler.
Well known as a practical joker Mike's family and friends never knew what to expect from him. As both the instigator and the recipient of pranks, he was known for his humor and good nature in teasing his family and friends. Mike loved his family as a husband, father and grandfather. His grandsons provided a lot of entertainment and joy for him.
He enjoyed Tennessee and regularly traveled to the area where he was thoroughly at home.
An avid sports fan, he enjoyed supporting the Indiana University basketball program, watching sports, playing softball and often refereed basketball. He was a longtime member and former employee of the Lebanon Boys and Girls Club where he refereed.
Survivors include wife Barb Donley of Lebanon; children Rebecca (Johnny) Johnston of Lebanon, Melissa (David) Schuermann of Lebanon, Anna Donley of Bloomington; grandchildren Mikey Johnston, Ben Johnston and Jacob Johnston; sisters Elizabeth (Paul) Kays of Lebanon, and Vicki (Jerry) Myers of Lebanon; brothers Robert Donley of Florida, James (Janet) Parker of Lebanon; John Maxwell of Spencer; aunt Linda Louks of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Phillippo and a sister-in-law, Karen Phillippo.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., in Lebanon.Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the funeral home in Lebanon, with the Rev. Matthew Short, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
