Marvin Keith "Mike" Simms, 71, passed away due to complications from surgery on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was the oldest of four children of the late Robert Russell and Betty (Poer) Simms. He was born on Oct. 2, 1946 in Lebanon.
Mike graduated from Zionsville High School in 1964. He then received a degree from Purdue University in Humanities in 1972.
On Sept. 2, 1966, he was married to Shirley Ann (Drummond) Simms in Lebanon; she survives. They were married for 51 years. Mike worked as an operations manager for many years.
He was an elder at the Gadsden Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, was a history buff, and an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved to fly-fish and garden.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Simms of Lebanon; two children, Brian (Rachel) Simms of Lebanon and Bethany (Matt) Sheehe of Indianapolis; two beloved granddaughters, Madison Simms and Sloane Simms; and two sisters, Nancy Pinegar of Lebanon and Lisa (Jim) Brandenburg of Indianapolis.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, John David Simms; and a brother-in-law, Frank Pinegar.
Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Gadsden Church of Christ, 576 N. 650 E., Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., in Lebanon. Interment will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
