Mrs. Mildred Opal Powell, 99, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Lebanon on Nov. 11, 1916, the only daughter of the now late Frederick Arthur Walker and Daisy Dean (Doty) Walker.
Mildred was a graduate of Lebanon High School.
On April 30, 1937, she was married to Philip Eugene Powell in Crown Point. Mr. Powell passed away on Aug. 26, 1984.
Mildred had worked as a clerk for Adler's Clothing in Lebanon for many years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon.
Survivors include children, Susan Romano of Naples, Fla., Philip Powell II and wife, Christina, of Goshen, Sarah Lee and husband, Theodore "Ted," of Lebanon and John Powell and wife, Denise, of New Mexico; and seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by a half brother, Cletus L. Walker; and son-in-law, Joseph Romano.
Visitation is planned for 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
Memorials may be made in her honor to a charity of the donor's choice.
