Monzelle J. Souders, 86, of Lebanon, passed away July 23, 2016, at Hickory Creek at Lebanon.
Monzelle was born July 23, 1930, in Crawford County, the daughter of the now late Reverend James and Mary (Conrad) Byrd. She was married to Eugene Souders for 64 years. He survives.
Monzelle graduated from Lebanon High School in 1948. She first worked as a bank teller at Citizens Bank in Lebanon. She then owned the Office Supply and Equipment store in Lebanon with her husband for 22 years. Monzelle was a lifelong member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon, and served as their treasurer for many years.
Monzelle was an avid golfer, and she also enjoyed playing bridge. She enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and camping in their camper.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene; her daughters, Karen (John) Diehl of Crawfordsville and Belinda J. Kirby of Frankfort; and seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Monzelle was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edwin Eugene Byrd.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, July 27, for visitation from 4 until 8 p.m., and services will be held on Thursday, July 28, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Anthony Stone officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Monzelle will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
