Norma's Story

Mrs. Norma J. Randel, 84, of Indianapolis, formerly of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at St, Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on July 2, 1932, in Straughn, the youngest of nine children, to the now late Lee C. Huffman and Bertha (Spangler) Huffman.
Norma was a 1950 graduate of Bentonville High School.
She was married to Darrell Franklyn Randell on April 24, 1984, in Carmel. Mr. Randel passed away on May 30, 2012.
Norma had worked for 30 years at Fort Benjamin Harrison. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, fishing and assisting her husband, Darrell, in the Randel Antique business.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Norma also enjoyed playing euchre and traveling to many antique shows in her spare time.
Former memberships include Lebanon Christian Church, Boone County Senior Services and the Red Hats, Lebanon.
Survivors include children, Debbie Burkhard of Carmel and Terri Clark and husband, John, of Spring, Texas; stepchildren, Dan Randel of Cicero, Steve Randel and wife, Carol, of Frankfort and Kathy Menacher and husband, Jay, of Mahomet, Ill.; sister, Rosie Rybolt of Cambridge City; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Burkle, Ben Randel, Eric Randel and wife, April, Jenny Menacher, Josh Menacher, Aaron Clark and Laura Funk and husband, Aaron; and six great-grandchildren, Isabel Olivia Burkle, John Paul Burkle, Andrew Cole Burkle, Landon Carter Funk, Olivia Ann Funk and Chase Michael Randel.
In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by five brothers, Ronny Huffman, Robert Huffman, John Huffman, Albert Huffman and Wayne Huffman; and two sisters, Louise Thompson and Thelma Ellington.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
