Paul James "Jim" Hill, 86, went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lebanon on Jan. 8, 1931 to William and Ocie (Carter) Hill. He married Gloria (Brooks) on June 25, 1955. They spent 62 wonderful years together raising a family, traveling, and taking many cruises together with their friends from Edgewater Landing, Florida.
He enlisted in the USAF, serving in the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He retired as assistant fire chief from the Lebanon Fire Department after 20 years of service. Following retirement he and Gloria moved to Daytona Beach, where he worked for Harper Mechanical Corp. for 12 years.
They headed to Edgewater Landing, where they lived and enjoyed many lasting friendships. Jim lived life to the fullest, enjoying fishing, shrimping and being with friends.
He was a member of the Edgewater Union Church, the Elks, the Eagles, and the Korean War Veterans Assoc.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria; older sisters Norma Jean Hall and Mildred Saine, both of Indianapolis; sons Jeff (Mary) Hill of Staunton, Virginia, and Gary (Robin) Hill of South Daytona; daughter MaryAnn (Dean) Jackson of Lebanon; grandchildren Josh Perman of Fort Lauderdale, Hollie (Drew) Hanson of Lebanon; Sloan (Stephany) Jackson of Lebanon, and Carolina Hill of South Daytona; and two great-grandchildren, Olive and Carter Jackson.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday April 1, at Edgewater Union Church, 500 S, Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater.
