Pauline's Story

Pauline May Heckman, 95, of Zionsville, passed away Aug. 9, 2016, at Zionsville Meadows.
Pauline was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Boone County, a daughter of the now late William and Neilie (Burress) Essex.
She married Robert Heckman on Aug. 25, 1937. He passed away in 1993.
Pauline attended Whitestown High School. She owned and operated a grocery store in Elizaville and Gadsden with her husband in the 1940s; she took great pride in their Huckster grocery delivery route. Pauline served as the Boone County Recorder from 1973 until 1980. She enjoyed crocheting, playing card games and playing Yahtzee.
Pauline was a member of the Elizaville Baptist Church and was their organist for many years. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society and the Eastern Star of Kirklin. She was an avid supporter of God and she loved watching her many grandchildren grow.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Regina (Chip) Camiscione of McKinney, Texas, Troy (Nancy) Heckman of Perrysburg, Ohio, Suzan (Nathan) English of Brownsburg, Tim Deimling of Lebanon, Matt (Nikki) Deimling of Lawrence, Amy Clouse of Westfield and Darian (Brent) Ochs of Avon; and 17 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. Pauline was preceded in death by her children, James Heckman, John Heckman and Janet Heckman-Deimling; her siblings, Sherman, George, Lester, Harold, Ernie and Russell Essex, Anna Clemens, Ada Fox and Baby Fern; her grandchild, Wes Heckman; and her grandchild-in-law, Scott Clouse.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, Aug. 20, for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Pauline will be laid to rest at Mts. Runn Cemetery in Zionsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elizaville Baptist Church, 5946 N. Howard St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
