Phyllis Jean Downey, 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. She was born on Oct. 10, 1930, in Shelbyville, a daughter of the now late Leland W. and Grace Fern (Good) Lusk.
Phyllis was married to Roy Byron Downey on June 22, 1949, in Greenfield; Roy passed away on Dec. 14, 2004.
She was a 1947 graduate of Shelby County High School.
Phyllis spent her career in the nursing field. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and reading, and had a great love for dogs.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
Survivors include four children, Linda Boyd and husband, Jim, of Spicewood, Texas, Mike Downey and wife, Jane, of Gray, Tenn., Jack Downey and wife, Diane, of Carmel, and Connie Clouser and Keith Powers of Zionsville; sisters, Kathryn Heck of Indianapolis and Sharon Winton of Haines City, Fla.; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Danford; and two brothers, Eugene Lusk and Glendon Lusk.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
