Robert E. "Bob" Tobin Sr., 82, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Wayne County, a son of the now late Walter Tobin and Marguerite (Salisbury) Tobin Burdette.
He attended Whitewater High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy.
Bob was married to Shirley M. Garrett on Feb. 1, 1953, in Richmond; she survives.
As a child he had helped on the family farm. He later began working as a truck driver, and continued doing that most of his life. He began driving trucks in Richmond before moving to Lebanon in 1967, where he worked for Batts Trucking and Triangle Asphalt.
Bob was a devoted husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, deer hunting, snowmobiling, boating, motorcycles and C.B. radios.
Survivors include wife, Shirley M. Tobin of Lebanon; three children, Robert E. "Bo" Tobin Jr. of Advance, Vaudette E. Trammel and husband, James, of Indianapolis, and Charles "Chuck" Tobin of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Misty Emberton, B.J. Tobin, David Trammel and Daniel White; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie E. Tobin.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the mortuary. Cremation will follow services
Boone County Crematory, Lebanon, assisted with arrangements.
