Ron's Story

Mr. Ron McCall, 71, of Lebanon, passed away Feb. 22, 2017, at his residence.
Ron was born on Aug. 26, 1945, in Newark, N.J., and raised on the Jersey Shore.
He married Dottie Foster in 1964. She died in 2012.
Ron joined the U.S. Navy in 1963, serving on board the USS Intrepid CVS II and USS The Forrestal CVA 59. After serving in the Navy, Ron went back to New Jersey and became a town official and firefighter, eventually reaching the rank of fire chief. Upon moving to Lebanon, Ron attended the Citizen Sheriff's Academy, was a member of C.E.R.T. and a volunteer on the Boone County Medical Reserve Team.
Ron retired from Allison Transmission after 20 years as a contract employee. He was a member of the American Legion Post 113 in Lebanon.
Ron is survived by a daughter, Robin McKeever of New Jersey; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Bauer of Lebanon; and dear friend, Mary Zurfas of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis McCall.
Family and friends will gather Sunday, Feb. 26, for visitation from 2 until 6 p.m., and services will be held Monday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Ron will be laid to rest at Browns Wonder Cemetery in Lebanon.
