Mr. Ronald L. Cherry, 82, passed away at Brownsburg Meadows in Brownsburg, on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016. He was born in Clermont, Indiana, on April 10, 1934, a son of the now late William F. and Jessie Louise Cherry.
He was a 1952 graduate of Clayton High School.
On Sept. 12, 1952 he was married to Janice (Ferguson) Cherry. She survives.
Ronald had worked for General Motors Allison Division for 38 ½ years as a general supervisor until retiring in 1990.
Ronald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed raising and racing horses and had a special love for dogs.
Survivors include wife: Janice Cherry of Lebanon; children Cindy (Ted) Boatman of Lebanon, and Greg (Mary) Cherry of Holland, Michigan; grandchildren Mike (Wendy) Boatman of Pittsboro, and Rich (Morgan) Boatman of Lafayette; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Joan Vance of Avon; Jean Kestler of Brownsburg; Beverly Pinkerton of Brown County, Donna Johnston of Washington state; and brother:Richard "Butch" (Pauline) Cherry of Clayton.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Susan, and brothers, Andy, Fred, Jim and Tom.
An informal gathering will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. A celebration of life is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home in Lebanon.
