Ronald Lee Shockley, 78, of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on June 21, 1939, in Boone County, a son of the now late Ernest Orren Shockley and Dorothy Beatrice (Garner) Shockley.
Ron was a lifelong resident of Boone County and a 1957 graduate of Dover High School. He then attended Franklin College for one year.
Ron was first married to Marlis (Todd) Shockley; they later divorced. He then married Karen Scher on Aug. 8, 1980, in Lebanon; she survives.
He had worked at Mid States Wire in Crawfordsville for 40 years, retiring in 1998. After retiring, he worked for Boone County Senior Services for 10 years.
Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. If he wasn't spending time with his family, you could find him mowing the lawn or gardening.
He was also an avid sports fan and loved following his grandchildren in their sporting events.
Ron was a member of the Dover Christian Church.
Survivors include wife, Karen Shockley of Lebanon; children, Kevin Shockley and wife, Kathy, of Jamestown, Lori Vaughn and husband, Donald, of Jamestown, and Yvonne Agnew and husband, John, of Lebanon; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Danny K. Shockley of Thorntown.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Aaron D. Shockley.
Visitation is planned for noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his arrangements.
