Ronnie's Story

Ronnie E. Emberton, 60, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at his home in Crawfordsville. He was born on April 28, 1957, in Boone County, the son of the now late Eugene Edward and Geneva (Ward) Emberton.
Ronnie graduated from Western Boone High School in 1976. After high school, he began trucking with his father in the family business, Emberton's Trucking.
After his father retired, Ronnie started at Frito Lay in Frankfort, driving a semi for over 25 years. While he was there, he was recognized for one million miles of consecutive accident-free driving.
On July 11, 1981, Ronnie was married to Vickie (Haughton) Emberton in a garden ceremony at his sister Charlotte Shelley's home, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. Harold Lashbrook.
Ronnie enjoyed life by driving trucks, helping people, riding motorcycles, working on vehicles, mowing yards, helping with Boy Scouts as an assistant leader, spending time with his family, going on mission trips and providing dinners for church events.
He was a member of the Colfax Wesleyan Church, where he served in multiple positions including board member, Sunday school supervisor, event organizer and caterer. He went on many mission trips, his favorite areas being Africa (Xai-Xai, Mozambique) and South Africa (Tarkastad).
He was also a member of Cruisers for Christ CMA, Crawfordsville. He served as president of the group for many years, doing events in and around Crawfordsville including the Montgomery County fair, Christmas parade, fellowship meals and rides - Run for the Son sponsored by CMA CFC, Tom's Marina Motor Cross and Iron Man.
Ronnie was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Survivors include wife, Vickie Emberton of Crawfordsville; children, Wilbur Emberton and wife, Rebecca, Douglas Emberton and wife, Mary, and Joseph Emberton and wife, Coral; grandchildren, William, Perrin, Aslan, Noah, Caleb and Ezekiel; two granddogs, Max and Laila; one uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte (Matthews) Shelley Schrimsher; and several uncles and a cousin.
Visitation is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 10, at Colfax Wesleyan Church, Colfax Mason Road and Old 52 North, Colfax. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the church. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
