Rosella "Rosie"'s Story
Rosella Elaine "Rosie" Johnson, a long-time resident of Lebanon passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, the 14th of June.
Rosella was born in Lebanon on Feb. 3, 1945, to parents Ralph and Ella Meek.
She graduated Lebanon High School in 1963, and went on to work for several companies including Commercial Filters, RCA and Marsh. She also spent many years working in the community, at Peppermint Palace and in food service at the LHS cafeteria.
Rosella was a loving mother and Nana, who was caring, stubborn, spunky, spry, sassy, and full of life. She loved reading, NASCAR, family, cooking, baking, word searches, coffee and root beer. She loved kids, and was always willing to help.
Rosella married Max Carl Mantooth on April 28, 1967, and had three children. She and Max were married for 21 years, until his passing in April of 1988. Rosella was married to Gene Johnson in December of 1990; he survives.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Steven and Maurice Meek.
She is survived by her sisters, Roberta Martin and Wilma Mantooth; daughters, Sherri (Kelly) Mantooth Bagwell and Kimberly Mantooth Lott, both of North Carolina; son, John (Jenny) Mantooth, of Thorntown; two stepsons, Keith Johnson and Rick Johnson; four stepgrandsons; and six grandchildren, Tyler Pittman, Bethany Pittman, Gray Lott, Carter Lott, Carson Hicks, all of North Carolina, and Carter Simmons, of Thorntown. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart to Heart Hospice in Danville, the Boone County Cancer Society, or the Lebanon Church of God.
Further details on the remembrance ceremony to come, with ARN Funeral Home handling the funeral arrangements. Pastor Keith Johnson will officiate.
