Sarah Viola Price, 94, passed away on July 15, 2017. Sarah Viola was born to Clarence and Violet Hand in Boone County.
She graduated from Whitestown High School in 1941, and attended classes at Ball State University in 1942.
Sarah is survived by her children, Paul Phillip Price and Penny Price Heatley; her grandchildren, Mike Daugherty, Beth Daugherty Fiori, Kelly Daugherty Schuknecht, Thomas Daugherty, Alexander Heatley, Jason Heatley and Nicholas Heatley; and her great-grandchildren, Dylan Fiori, Sarah Fiori, Annemarie Daugherty, Donovan Schuknecht and Eleanor Schuknecht.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Price; and her daughter, Viola Paulette Price.
After a blind date in Lebanon, Sarah Viola fell in love with and married Paul Price on Oct 31, 1943; together they celebrated 67 years of marriage.
She and Paul moved to Arizona in 1961, where Sarah Viola put her incredible energy and organizational skills to work as an administrative assistant.
After retiring, Sarah's love of the outdoors and love of traveling prompted her and her husband to volunteer for the forest service in Alaska, Sedona and the Grand Canyon, where she led campground talks and tours. One of Sarah's great joys at this time was working for Grand Canyon Jeep Tours and Safaris, where she worked in reservations and led jeep tours.
Sarah will be greatly missed by all of her family. Family was everything to Sarah who, even in her 90s, would get down on the floor to play with her great- grandchildren and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 8:30 a.m. July 31, at 8:30 at Resthaven Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301.
