Shirley Irene Braaksma, 81, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017, at her home in Lebanon. She was born on Feb. 27, 1936, in Michigan, a daughter of the now late Reuben E. and Luella I. (Katz) Wolff.
On Dec. 31, 1953, she was married to Carl Edward Braaksma in Goodland; Carl passed away Nov. 26, 1986.
Raised in Michigan, Shirley graduated from high school and met her husband, Carl. Together they moved to Remington, and then to Lebanon in 1963.
Shirley relocated to New Port Richey, Fla., in 1990, and returned to Lebanon again in 2006.
She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
Shirley had worked at Aero Drapery for many years.
She loved her family dearly and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her free time, she enjoyed drawing and making jewelry.
Survivors include children, Cindy (Richard) Walton of Lebanon, Todd Braaksma of Lebanon and Mary I. Braaksma of Holiday, Fla.; six grandchildren, Carli, Zach, Randy, Rickie, Vickie and Dixie; several great-grandchildren; brother, Vern E. (Jo Ann) Wolff of Piggott, Ark.; sister-in-law, Linda Wolff of Jackson, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Knepper; and a brother, Norman Wolff.
Visitation is to be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
