Stephen "SPEEDY"'s Story
Mr. Stephen Paul "Speedy" Davis, 68, passed away Thursday evening, Aug. 17, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Clinton County on Sept. 8, 1948, a son of the now late Paul M. and Jean M. (Sheets) Davis.
On Oct. 27, 1974, he was married to Judy D. Campbell in Mechanicsburg; she survives.
Early in his life Steve attended schools in Clinton County, and then graduated from Thorntown High School in 1966. Following school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country honorably.
Steve retired from Alcoa in Lafayette after more than 35 years of employment, working as an extruder.
He took great pride in his family and thought the world of his sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and loved watching football, always rooting for the Colts and IU. Steve could often be seen during his afternoon drives around town.
His memberships included the Colfax VFW, Eagles, and the County Line Fishing Club.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Davis of Thorntown; sons, Scott (Brooke) Davis of Colfax and Brad (Sarah) Davis of Noblesville; five grandchildren, Nolon Davis, Cayden Davis, Kateleigh Davis, Luke Davis and Norah Davis; brother, Mark (Kim) Davis of Thorntown; sisters, Marsha Davis of Thorntown, Sharon (Jim) Bolen of Thorntown and Nancy (Keith) Caldwell of Tallahassee, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the mortuary. Interment with military rites will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
