William "Bill"'s Story
William T. "Bill" Vann, 85, of Sheridan, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born in New Maysville, Indiana, on Oct. 20, 1932, a son of the late George T. and Iva E. (Stewart) Vann.
On May 24, 1952, he was married to Della M. (Allen) Vann in Boone County; she survives. They enjoyed 65 years together.
Bill was a graduate of North Salem High School and worked many years as a mechanic for the Indiana Equipment Company in Zionsville and for Midwest Oil Transit retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed his family and friends and in his free time he liked to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife, Della Vann of Sheridan; and seven children, Vicki Vann of Lebanon, Billy (Debbie) Vann of Frankfort, Sharon (David) Snodgrass of Frankfort, Beverly Vann of Crawfordsville, Rebecca (Keith) Eldridge of Kirklin, Patricia (John) Washum of Kirklin and Lisa Leech of Lebanon; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one brother, Gene (Sharon) Vann of Lebanon; two sisters, Elizabeth Trader and Bonnie Huckleberry both of Lebanon; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dale Huckleberry; and two grandsons, Michael and Jeremy.
Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Bethel Cemetery, north of Lebanon.
