Mr. William R. Engledow, 91, of Lebanon, passed away Sept. 1, 2017, at his home in Lebanon. William was born on May 16, 1926, in Boone County, a son of the now late William M. and Lottie Lu (Scott) Engledow.
He married Joanne Wohler in Indianapolis on May 15, 1949. She survives. William graduated from Whitestown High School. He served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946, where he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.
William worked for Dow Chemical Company as a laboratory technician for 40 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon. He sponsored NYF at the Whitestown Methodist Church for many years.
William enjoyed woodworking and sports.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Engledow of Lebanon; his son, Larry Lee Engledow of Huntsville, Ala.; his daughter, Randy Lynn Phillips of Indianapolis; and his grandchildren, Danette Harmon, William Harmon, Jessica McCann, Nicolas Engledow and Christopher Engledow. William was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, Sept. 5, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon, with Pastor David Wright officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. William will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
