Carl Ray Wynkoop, 69, of Avon, formerly of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 2, 1947, in Lebanon, the son of the now late Earl Wayne and Violet Marie (Johnson) Wynkoop.
He was first married to Linda (Portell) Wynkoop; she preceded him in death in 1985. He married Linda Huff, and they later divorced.
Raised in Lebanon, Carl attended Lebanon High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps until his honorable discharge. He was a member of the American Legion in Avon.
Carl worked as an insulator for Rock Island Refinery. He retired from there after many years of service.
He was a devoted father and grandfather.
Survivors include three sons, Scott Wynkoop and wife, Cathy, of Brownsburg, Chris Wynkoop of Indianapolis and Jeremy Wynkoop of Plainfield; five grandchildren, Madeleine, Jack, Blake, Benjamin and Jaxon; three sisters, Linda Kincaid and husband, Ed, of Lebanon, Norma Jean Hawk and husband, Jerry, of Bolivar, Mo., and Carleene Kay Jones and husband, Joe, of Indianapolis; and mother-in-law, Pauline Portell of Zionsville.
Visitation and services were held Monday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Interment, with military rites, was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
