Charlotte's Story

Mrs. Charlotte Woody Seiler, 102, of Venice, Fla., and formerly of Thorntown, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017, in Florida. She was born on Jan. 20, 1915, in Thorntown, the daughter of the now late Clark and Lois (Long) Woody.
On Oct. 10, 1942, she was married to Wallace Urban "Wally" Seiler in Thorntown. Mr. Seiler preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2002. They had spent nearly 60 loving years together before his passing.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, Charlotte was a professor of education at Delta College near Midland, Mich., retiring in 1976.
She was a life member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and served on numerous community boards.
In her retirement Charlotte taught humanities classes, bridge and Sunday school. She loved living by the water, reading and flower gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Patricia Anne Seiler of Suttons Bay, Mich., and Janet Alice Seiler and husband, Johnny Sawyer, of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two granddaughters, Lauren Bootzin of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Elianna Bootzin and husband, Jeffrey Thomas, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and brother, Clifford Woody of Thorntown. In addition to her parents and her husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Woody and Harold Woody.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at Myers & Hunt Mortuary, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Thorntown, with the Rev. Glen Jewell officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
