Mr. Clarence David Winkles, 82, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at his home in Lebanon surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Vincennes, on March 15, 1934, the son of the now late and Clarence E. Winkles and Ophie Mae (Brittingham) Hamke.
Clarence attended high school in Vincennes. Following school, Clarence served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954.
On June 23, 1956, he was married to Donna Mae (Childress) Winkles in Lebanon; she survives.
He had worked as a millwright at The Lumber Center retiring after 28 years.
Clarence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His interests included woodworking, hunting, watching NASCAR and the Indianapolis Colts.
Survivors wife Donna M. Winkles of Lebanon; four children Otis Winkles and wife, Sherri, Charles Winkles and wife, Rhonda, Clarence L. Winkles and wife, Bridget, and Diana York, all of Lebanon; brother Leo Hamke of Lebanon; sixteen grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by a son, Robert Gene Winkles; two brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Interment with Military Rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of the donor's choice.
