Evelyn Marie Coffman, age 63, of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 1, 2017, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born April 27, 1953, in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the now late Ludovic Edgar and Mary Jane (Irick) Biddle.
She attended Sheridan High School with the class of 1971.
Evelyn loved working in the garden. Growing flowers seemed to come so naturally for her. She put her green thumb to good use at Heartland Growers where she worked as a gardener and floral designer for 22 years, retiring in 2003. She was also an avid NASCAR fan.
There was one activity however that took center stage in her life - her family. And that went double for her grandchildren. She was an active sports mom, never missing a game, a wrestling match, or any other activity that her family was participating in. She had a special place in her heart for her feline family members as well.
Evelyn is survived by her three sons, Russell W. "Rusty" Coffman III (Lorie) of Sheridan, Eugene Coffman (Diana) of Indianapolis and David Allen Coffman (Ardith) of Arcadia; her daughter, Kathleen M. Coffman (fiancé Billie Bougher) of Sheridan; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Lily, Sean, Daisy, Marley, Adeline and Kingston; two great-grandchildren, Coyote and Diana; three brothers, James Biddle of Noblesville, Dwain Biddle (Vicki) of Florida and Dennis Biddle of Tipton; six sisters, Lela Stowe (Neil) of Indianapolis, Brenda Cooper of Arkansas, Charlotte Jennings of Noblesville, Anita Foulke (Larry) of Sheridan, Diana Jackson of Atlanta, Indiana and Floretta Rogers (Roy) of Richmond, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Russell Milton Coffman, Jr. on Jan. 4, 1979. She and Russell were married in 1970. Also preceding Evelyn in death were two brothers, Edgar Carl Biddle and John Charles Biddle; and her favorite cat, Kitty.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown. Vicki Biddle will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association.
