Gwendolyn J. Bayne, 78, of Lebanon, formerly of Indianapolis, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017. She was born in Providence, R.I., on Sept. 26, 1938, a daughter of the now late Ivan and Audrey Pruett.
A longtime resident of Indianapolis, Gwendolyn was a graduate of Howe High School, Indianapolis, and attended Michigan State University.
On April 13, 1954, she was married to Gerald L. Bayne in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death in June 2014.
Gwendolyn loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Indianapolis for many years. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include three children, Gean Menser of Indianapolis, Ginger Choate and husband, George, of Lebanon and Gerry Bayne of Colorado; eight grandchildren, Jaimie, Jacob, Amber, Hunter, Luke, Jordan, Micah and Crystal; three great-grandchildren, Vera, Chloe and Emily; two brothers, Ronald Pruett and wife, Dixie, of Kansas, and Ivy Pruett and wife, Kathy, of Texas; sister, Dixie VanderShur of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her arrangements for cremation.
